Tomsk higher educational institution participating in Rosnano virtual nanouniversity creation

The infrastructural and educational programs fund of Rusnano company has recently announced starting up a new project on creating in Russia a nanotechnologies distance learning system using information and communication technologies (e-learning). Within a framework of this project together with other well-known universities of the country Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUCSR) will take part in the field of Nanoelectronics and Optoelectronics, the University’s media office says.

TUCSR is already experienced in educational programs making for Rusnano. In March 2010, under the TUCSR program advanced-training courses were held for the employees of the companies belonging to national nanotechnological network. The program was developed in the framework of the Research and Education Center (REC) "Nanotechnology" of TUCSR created at the university in 2008 for the preparation of highly qualified personnel and research in the field of microwave nanoelectronics and nanotechnology.

Alongside TUCSR, the following higher educational institutions will participate in the program: National Research University of Electronic Technology, Moscow State Technical University of Radio technology, Electronics and Automatics (MIREA), St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO), St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (LETI) , Higher Education Center of the St. Petersburg Academic University.

By the end of the fall 2012 the educational project RUSNANO will run in pilot mode. During this time, each institution participating in the program, will prepare an educational module for the same production company specializing in the nanoproducts manufacturing. If the pilot phase is successful, then in fall the infrastructural and educational programs fund RUSNANO will create a full-scale training system in the mode of e-learning. The project involves the development and launch of several modular educational programs for training and retraining of engineers and nanoindustrial companies executives. The output of Rosnano expects to create a kind of virtual university programs of which will be sought-after by engineers and technologists, developers nanotechnology companies - RUSNANO report says.
