Parallels starts the first international sale of software developed in Skolkovo

Parallels starts the first international sale of software developed in Skolkovo The Parallels Company has announced the launch of the first international software sales, created on Skolkovo grant. The new product Parallels Automation for Cloud Infrastructure allows any hosting and telecom service provider in the world to provide services similar to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. After receiving the grant it took the developers less than a year to create a product that attracted the customers from several major international service providers in South East Asia and Europe.

PACI is the unique decision in its technological characteristics, which will help providers to be analogous to Amazon with its Elastic Compute Cloud (AmazonEC2). With this software the provider’s client receives the opportunity to create his own virtual data center, engaging the provider’s server facilities. Parameters of the virtual data center (memory, processor power, disk space, etc.) are set by the client and can be operated through an easy-to-use interface. A built-in billing system simplifies the resources consumption calculation which is a critical exponent for small business. All customer service processes (from order to invoice) are automatic for the provider’s personnel.

It was important for us to focus attention and resources on the software development enabling service providers to compete with such a giant as Amazon, - said Pavel Ershov, Parallels Research CEO. - PACI opens up the possibility for our partners to enter the market with new cloud services in a short period of time, receiving an additional profit source.

Parallels is presented in Skolkovo by Parallels Research, its 100% subsidiary, which from the beginning of last year, is a resident of the innovation city and has been developing the cloud technologies. In May 2011 Skolkovo grant committee approved the resident’s software development funding project estimated 150 M RUR. Parallels are to spend the same sum of money.

In February 2012 Parallels Research reported on the first phase of the development of PACI to Skolkovo Grant Committee, and received the approval to transfer the remaining tranche of the grant to bring the product to the full market release. The first sales of PACI in the international market began at the same time.

The fact that Skolkovo residents already show the first commercial results is very important for us. Parallels Research software is a vivid example of Skolkovo working to support promising innovations. This is the export of high technology to the global market, the idea that we put at the forefront in the implementation of these initiatives, - said Alexander Turkot, IT-Cluster Fund Executive Director of the Skolkovo Fund.
