Technovation Cup, a students' innovative technology projects international competition started accepting applications in May, 10. The Competition is held for the eighth time by the Moscow Physicotechnical Institute with the support of the largest investment companies and venture funds.
The task of the Technovation Cup is to find a long-term research projects in the student community and help young scientists developing them to turn their innovations into successful technology businesses.
Only teams with at least one student, a graduate student or a recent graduate of the university in the following areas can be accepted:
- Information Technology and Telecommunications - Biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical technology - Electronics, instrument engineering - Chemical, Oil & Gas Technologies - Nanotechnology and New Materials - Energy and energy-saving technologies - Nuclear Technology - Other technologies
The best contestants will have an opportunity to participate in a unique educational program in Moscow, to find investors from venture capital funds or business angels to support their scientific developments, get professional expertise of their projects, win a cash prize and more.
In addition, the finalists of the Technovation Cup will be free to take advantage of a wide range of services provided by the competition partners: high-class advice on intellectual property protection, assistance in developing a marketing plan, patenting, free software and more.
Within a few years the competition brought together a number of specialists from science and business who are ready to help the technology businesses development created by students and graduate students. David Young, Chairman of the ABBYY Board of Directors, notes that the level of student’s projects is constantly increasing. He believes that such initiatives can help teams to improve their ideas and contribute to their advancement.
