TSU Scientists have found an investor for X-ray units serializationThe Agency of Strategic Initiatives (Moscow) has decided to support a project to create the production and output of new generation technology products in digital radiography based on a unique domestic technology. The total cost of the Detectors and X-ray machines: the creation of innovative production of gallium arsenide semiconductor detectors, digital color images, and mobile X-ray machines of new generation project is 880 M RUR, Tomsk State University report says.

Semiconductor detectors scope of application is very wide: from medicine to engineering. X-ray machines, due to their high efficiency provide less radiation exposure to patients. The detectors of Tomsk development can be also used in defectoscopes including those for aircraft engines and parts testing. Based on this knowledge, you can create a variety of devices and systems for covert identification of potential terrorists and people sneaking prohibited items under clothing: weapons, explosives, flammable, toxic substances and drugs. Airports, stadiums, even post offices will be equipped with devices that are able to see even through suitcases and boxes.

We have the technology and now we are working to pack the project and transfer it to production - Oleg Tolbanov, the author of the project, Professor of Tbilisi State University, the Head of Physics of Semiconductors and complex Electronics Research and Education Center says.
The construction of a plant for the production of X-ray equipment based on the original Tomsk technology will begin in the near future in Dubna city. TSU staff will participate in the launch of production, and the university will soon begin to train specialists for the new plant.
