Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill opened up his page in Facebook social network in May, 15, Interfax agency reports.
The synodal information department, that is responsible for the project, reported to the agency, that the patriarch’s page will be updated daily. News, images and photos of Kirill will be posted on the page.
A representative of the department said that the patriarch is interested in what happens on the web, so he will follow this page.
Patriarch Kirill has repeatedly spoken out on the relationship of church and social networks. For example, in 2010 he called for ministers to participate more actively in the Network life. However, social networks should be used only to spend the Gospel, the head of the ROC said.
At the end of April, 2012 Kirill appealed to the priests and asked them not to seek imaginary popularity on the Internet, the reviews and ‘likes’ for publications in particular.
