Putin set up a council on economic modernization and innovative developmentRussian President Vladimir Putin has created and headed the Council to modernize the economy and the innovative development of Russia. The public agency is established to ensure cooperation between federal and regional state power structures, public associations, scientific and other organizations in examining questions related to economic modernization and innovative development of Russia, the document says.

The main objective of the Council is preparing of proposals to define trends and mechanisms for economic modernization and innovative development of Russia, including the development of state support of the industry, coordinating the activities of federal executive bodies, executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation, local authorities, business and expert communities in modernization of the economy and innovation development in Russia. In addition, the number of the Council’s tasks includes identification of priority areas, forms and methods of state regulation in order to modernize the economy and innovative development of Russia as well as the coordination of the of geographically separate complex for the research and development operation and commercialization of its results.

The decree abolished the Commission for Modernization and Technological Development of the Russian economy.

Sergei Kiriyenko - Director General of State Corporation Rosatom (by agreement);
Dmitry Livanov - Minister of Education and Science of Russian Federation;
Ziyavudin Magomedov - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Amount Group (as agreed);
Denis Manturov - Minister of Industry and Trade;
Rustam Minnikhanov - President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia;
Elvira Nabiullina - presidential aide;
Andrew Nikitin - Director General of independent non-profit organization The Agency of strategic initiatives for the promotion of new projects (as agreed);
Nikolai Nikiforov - Minister of Communications and Mass Communications.
