Innopolis-Kazan opens its office in Silicon Valley

Innopolis-Kazan opens its office in Silicon ValleyKazan IT Park creates a working group to search and select foreign companies interested to invest in start-up projects in high technologies for the development of the sector in the Republic of Tatarstan. It is assumed that these companies will become the partners of Innopolis that is under construction.

The idea of opening an office in Silicon Valley appeared in 2011, when the government of Tatarstan was actively discussing the issue of attracting foreign professionals, innovative companies and investors to the Republic. At that time this idea seemed unlikely to many observers, but today some IT companies from Silicon Valley open their subsidiaries in Kazan and recruit staff in information technology.

Speaking about the companies that are interested in investing in Tatarstan, we do not confine ourselves only to investment funds: it can be both large corporations that want to take advantage of future Innopolis and foreign start-ups at growth stage interested in entering Russian market, and other companies that offered mutually beneficial cooperation with Innopolis on various issues. So we decided to create a working group that could provide a wide range of contacts, as well as expert assessment of possible partnership if necessary, - says the head of Innopolis Kazan Anton Grachev.

Renata Akhunova, the president of Global Innovation Access which is successfully engaged in the development of international technology companies, will run the Innopolis’ office in Silicon Valley.

Since Innopolis is being created primarily for IT professionals, it is clear that the city needs close connections with world's main center of IT industry - Silicon Valley. So the opening of a representative office is not a one-off project: there is no doubt that we will support its presence there. - Adds Renata Akhunova. - We have already proved that foreign companies are willing to cooperate with the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan IT Park and the future Innopolis.

Information technologies are present in virtually all industries and businesses, so our goal is to look for partners in all priority areas of economic development, both Russian and world, to identify mutual interests and to establish effective cooperation - says Akhunova.
