Pinterest made applications for iPad and Android available to its users

Pinterest made applications for iPad and Android available to its users A social network for the publication of images Pinterest released its first mobile application for Android and updated application for iOS, which became available to iPad too. Now, even if users are in another city, in a shop, or simply in another room - they will be able to take Pinterest with them, service representatives say.

The functionality of mobile applications is the same as of the web version: you can view pictures of other users, post your own content, as well as to use a built-in search engine and browser.

According to the publication of All Things Digital with reference to a co-founder of Pinterest Evan Sharp, the developers created the Android-application specifically for this platform and not a remake of the iOS version.

Pinterest Social Network was launched in 2010. You could register by invitation only, but they announced the lifting of this restriction. Now everyone can register for free. The feature of the service is that the service is oriented only to the publication of photographs, images and videos. At the same time the content can be linked to a specific topic.

Among the investors of Pinterest are Andreessen Horowitz, FirstMark Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners that invested $ 100 M in the social network in May 2012. That financing round was led by Japanese company Rakuten. The total cost of Pinterest on the results of the transaction amounted to $ 1.5 B. The plans of the creators of Facebook for photos include the translation of the interface into French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish, as well as into Russian - but, unfortunately, not in the first place.
