A venture cafe, which is timed to the XIII Russian Venture Fair and III Baikal Venture Fair, will be opened on September 20, 2012 in Irkutsk.
Irkutsk will become the first city of Russia which has such cafe, the head of the financial and infrastructural support of innovative projects of the Ministry of Information Technology, innovation and communication of Irkutsk region Evgeny Semenov says.
As planned by the city government, it should become a permanent platform for informal dialogue of entrepreneurs and investors. The proposal to open a venture cafe in Irkutsk came from the executive director of Russian Venture Capital Association (RVCA) Albina Nikkonen. The idea was borrowed from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), located in Cambridge, USA.
