Russian platform for interactive publications received $4M from IMI.VCCompany Imi.vc owned by former vice president for game services of Mail.ru Igor Matzanyuk invested $4M in Narr8 project which develops book series for tablets. Narr8 is created by another former Vice President of Mail.ru Alexander Vashchenko. Monetization will come from fees for early viewing of new series.

Narr8 will develop a special application which allows you to download the series (stories) of various genres: fiction, horror, lifestyle, comics, science fiction books, etc. Books support animation and special effects.

Public relations director of Narr8 Andrei Akimov told CNews that the application and the series will be free to the user. Each episode will end with the most interesting moment, while the next series will only be available in two weeks. If the user wants, he will be able to buy new series earlier.

A product placement may appear in one-episode popular science stories. Such stories will be completely free for the user, Akimov promises. Now there is an application for the iPad, it is also planned to develop a version for Android tablets in the future.

8 studios of Narr8 are engaged in the creation of new stories which will be produced in Russian and English. The yield is scheduled for the fall, it will be held in Russia and the U.S. at the same time (the company has an office in San Francisco.) Narr8 employs about 100 people in total.

Alexander Vashchenko started working in IT-Territory as a designer since its foundation. Then he served as the General Producer of the company and the CEO of Astrum Online. Vashchenko is also a consultant in Farminers incubator and investment firm Imi.vc which was created by Matsanyuk after leaving Mail.ru.
