A discount service Groupon buys startup Savored, which provides social services for online tables reservation. The details of the deal were not disclosed. Savored is attractive for partnering restaurants because of its very low commission and large income from transactions of this kind, and attractive for visitors due to the opportunity to save their money.
Savored has about 1K restaurants in the U.S. and Europe. The employees of the startup say they help restaurants to fill empty rooms by offering discounts of up to 40% on the menu. The users of the service pay a registration fee of $10, which gives them the access to the discount system, which contains the information about the restaurants with discount programs.
This purchase is very beneficial for Groupon, as the promotional service Savored focuses on premium restaurants which do not cooperate with Groupon for their public image reasons and rarely offer discounts to visitors. In addition, the startup offers Groupon the access to the market of restaurant software – the bought company provides software to manage orders and products in restaurants.
