Intel Capital to invest $40M in 10 companiesInvestment arm of a global electronics manufacturer Intel Capital hosted the 13th annual conference Global Summit which announced 10 high-tech companies to receive about $40M from Intel. These funds will be used in a number of projects from the cooperation in cloud technologies and the creation of new digital entertainment applications, to simplification of mobile payments and the creation of new ways of devices’ interaction.

The Global Summit brought together more than 1K companies, supported by the Foundation of Intel Capital, to provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas and a basis for future successful joint projects and deals. A lot of papers and expert groups were presented at the conference and more than 1,7K business meetings were planned.

One of the main points of the conference was the announcement of the start-ups that would receive investments from Intel Capital fund. This time, the funds are:

1. Company Box (USA) - a developer of a platform for the secure exchange of content. The application developed by the Company is available for web browsers, platforms iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows Phone and integrated into enterprise applications, including NetSuite, Jive and Salesforce. Currently this product is used by more than 11M private customers and 125K companies worldwide.

2. Company Hungama.com (India) - the first and largest digital entertainment content shop in India available on request. Shop includes over 2.5M songs, movies, music videos and other mobile content of different genres and in different languages. This site has over 20M users and is available on PCs, mobile phones, tablets, TVs and other devices.

3. Jelli company (U.S.) - a developer of social radio platform which combines the advantages of radio signal wide coverage and entertainment available on the Internet. Radio listeners can adjust track lists, sounding in the air, by real-time voting and through gaming apps available for iPhone, Android and web browsers.

4. Company LIFO Interactive (Korea) - a developer of social games, its most popular game for Facebook is Train City which attracted more than 8M users last year.

5. Company NewAer (USA) - a developer of a platform based on the technology of distance measurement, which allows mobile phones, tablets and computers to automate certain operations, depending on the detected objects. For example, one the company’s applications is ToothTag which allows users to recognize people, geographical or physical objects based on their wireless presence and to establish certain rules, for example, to redirect calls when leaving home or office.

6. Company PagPop (Brazil) - a developer of a platform for mobile online payments, through which entrepreneurs and small business owners can use their credit cards to pay.

7. Company Tier 3 (U.S.) - a supplier of cloud corporate services that combine infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service services in a single management platform.

8. Transmension (China) – a 3D games developer focused on television, smart TVs and cable channels.

9. UUCun (China) – a mobile advertising service, which unites phone manufacturers, application developers and advertisers. During the last year, this development has been used in about 20M smartphones.

10. And the question of investment in FocalTech company (Taiwan) is not yet resolved. This company develops integrated circuits and will receive the money if certain Intel Capital’s requirements are met. FocalTech is specialized in designing chips for digital signals and mixed-signals processing for various applications, including integrated circuits of touch panels’ controllers.
