Siberian university and Ural nuclear center shake hands on RandDTomsk Polytechnic University in Siberia and the Urals? Institute of Reactor Materials have inked an agreement on joint RandD and innovation projects.

Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in Siberia announced last week that its Physical-Technical Institute has inked an agreement on joint R&D and innovation projects with the Institute of Reactor Materials (IRM), a sizable nuclear material research center in the Urals. Under the terms of the agreement, TPU will do for the IRM a number of R&D projects and is also expected to train and re-train staff for the Ural center. The IRM, in its turn, will offer a test-bench for TPU to fully tap into its know-how in radiochemistry, analytical chemistry, nondestructive check for nuclear materials, material science, environmental studies, isotope separation, and the automation of production processes. In addition, IRM specialists will be involved in the training of students at TPU. The two partners will be jointly seeking out and solving scientific and engineering problems that are expected to help speed up the development of Russia?s nuclear sector. TPU and the IRM will also promote their joint activities through exhibitions, symposiums and conferences to help experts and the general populace understand the nature of their collaboration...
