BodyNova project to participate in Microsoft Startup Accelerator

BodyNova project to participate in Microsoft Startup AcceleratorBodyNova project from Ingria Business Incubator, became one of the 4 startups selected to participate in Microsoft Startup Accelerator programme.

BodyNova is a project for planning, modeling and visualization of surgical procedures in 3D. After leaving Ingria in March, BioModeling, LLC which implements the project, started to work on a new service - 3D Fitness.

The St. Petersburg project BodyNova develops a system for 3D-modeling the results of surgery. Three-dimensional image of patient’s body is created in the clinic using an inexpensive stereo camera. Resource-intensive calculations to model surgical procedures are performed on BodyNova’s server and sent back to hospital’s computer.

A dozen clinics in Moscow and St. Petersburg already use BodyNova’s services. According to the co-founder of the company Ilya Antipov, existing clients are mainly represented by plastic surgery clinics, but BodyNova expects to win the market of reconstructive surgery too.

Recall that in 2011 BodyNova received a grant from Microsoft Seed Fund in the amount of $60K.

Microsoft accelerator allows its participants to get personal access to technical, marketing and business resources. The program aims to accelerate the growth of startups’ business and increase the likelihood of their participation in Microsoft BizSpark One international programme.
