Siberian scientists have discovered a new channel for the delivery of drugs into a patient?s brain, using nanodimensional diamond.

The scientists from the Novosibirsk-based Institute of Cytology and Genetics, Institute of Catalysis and International Tomography Center of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) have discovered a new channel for the delivery of drugs into a patient?s brain, Siberian News Agency ? Novosibirsk reports, citing Alexander Aseyev, the chairman of the RAS Siberian branch. ?Nanoparticles arrive at the brain using olfactory nerve fibers as transport. This has been experimentally proven and is now opening up new opportunities for overcoming barriers that typically get in the way of drugs,? he explained.
