Rusnano and US partners invest in advanced eyesight correction
Russia?s Rusnano and its US partners are investing $55m in a US-based developer of an advanced innovation technology to challenge age-related eyesight deterioration.
Rusnano, Russia?s largest nanotech company, announced earlier this week that RusnanoMedInvest, its one-year-old venture investment subsidiary, has pooled efforts with US-based VC fund Domain Associates and a group of other investors in a deal that brings $55m into ReVision Optics, Inc., an American developer of an advanced innovation technology to challenge age-related eyesight deterioration. According to Rusnano, ReVision Optics focuses on the research and development of innovative optical solutions dedicated to presbyopic vision correction. This is an eyesight refraction anomaly associated with natural aging and causing problems in seeing small fonts or tiny objects even at a close distance. Most people aged 50 and more have the problem today. ReVision?s Raindrop? Near Vision Inlay, the technology at the heart of the new project, is said to offer a unique, patented refractive surgery solution...
