MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator, is stepping up video surveillance to prevent forest fires in the Republic of Komi, in Northwest Russia, using its mobile infrastructure and the Forest Patrol technology developed by RMS, an innovation company from Nizhny Novgorod in the mid-Volga area. The word came earlier this week from the Skolkovo Foundation (RMS is a resident of the Skolkovo innovation hub under construction outside Moscow).
