RST-Invent, a Russian maker of RFID equipment and tags, claims it has developed an innovative RFID solution for jewel producers and retailers. The new product, called the RST-Cube, is designed to optimize shipment of jewelry and distribution of goods at different retail outlets, and also to simplify and cut the cost of stock-taking in sales and showcase areas. Gold and silver ware items will have RFID tags glued onto jewelry labels or built inside an item by its maker. The tags are very small, which makes it possible to design labels of a variety of formats. Each RFID tag has a unique code, the developer explained, which enables a wholesaler or retailer to identify the tagged item in a multitude of like ones. RST-Invent claims its RST-Cube solution is capable of identifying up to 100 tagged items of jewelry at a time.
