The Advanced Research Fund (ARF), the Russian analog of the U.S.? DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), will open by the end of this year, Telegrafist.org quoted Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin as saying. According to the vice premier, the ARF will use as its research base the scientific centers of Russia?s leading universities and help Russian industry tap into the result of its activity. According to Mr. Rogozin, Russia should be ?wary about using imported microelectronics and software, and better develop its own technologies.? The ARF was signed by President Vladimir Putin into law on October 16, 2012. Article 20 of the Law requires that the Fund start work within two months of the formal announcement of the new law. However, as of December 16, 2012 there was no news of the actual launch of the ARF...
