Founder of the multimedia service Divan.tv Andrey Kolodyuk announced about entering his company to markets of about 200 countries over the world. It is supposed, that by 2017 Divan.tv will have about 1 million of users without consideration of Ukrainian and Russian markets. On the international market the service focuses on Ukrainnian-language and Russian-language audience (according to the Company’s estimation, it comprises about 300 million of users. For example, in the North America its amount is estimated in 6.5-7M). The company considers that in course of time the audience from Ukraine will comprise about 20% of the service’s users. At that time the company will continue working on the Ukrainian market.
Andrey Kolodyuk does not name the total amount of investments in international expansion, but specifies, that if in 2010 unofficial investments comprised about $1M, then attempt to enter the international market is more expensive (millions of dollars). According to him, the project will become the most profitable in Ukraine during this year, and over the world – approximately in 2.5 years.
The company intends to open the office in Moscow, which will answer for work in Europe and CIS countries, including Ukraine. The office, which will work with the rest countries, will be located in California. The embassy and R&D department will be situated in Ulraine.
International users will be offered for $9.99 per month to watch about 60 channels and films, video, educational telecasts, etc. The tariff plan includes Ukrainian channels, in particular, “Inter+”. The company also negotiates with the group “1+1 International”. As for the content of the “Ukraine” Group and the “Starlight Media”, they do not have rights for international translation. This offer is valid for foreign users since today.
The founder of the service has also disclosed some data on the company activity in Ukraine. At the moment Divan.tv has 125 thousand registered users. It is not specified which part of them is a free audience, but in average ARPU comprises $5-6. Monthly subscribers base in average increases 12 thousand users. It is interesting, that about 75% of the Ukrainian audience of the service are users of the Smart TV device. Web-versions are used by 7.8% of audience, set-top boxes are used by 16.7%.
