MISiS, one of Moscow?s leading technology universities, has developed a superlight alloy for the 5G aircraft engines, MISiS announced. The university claims it has created an innovation technology for turbine blade and compressor manufacture. The components will be used in advanced gas-turbine engines for both civilian and military aircraft. The engines using titanium aluminide based blades are quite competitive with international analogs, the university said. The implementation of this project is expected to breathe new life into the development of a 21st century family of engines for Russia?s newest aircraft, such as the MC-21 and MTA, as well as for the existing planes, including the Tupolev-204CM, Be-200 and SSJ, and some Western aircraft...
