The Shimadzu Corp became the first key partner for Skolkovo from Japan

The Skolkovo Fund executed an agreement about cooperation with the “Shimadzu Corporation”, the Japanese company-developer of new methods for materials and systems investigation. Signs in the agreement placed the Senior Vice-president on innovations of the Skolkovo Fund Vasily Belov and Chief of the “Shimadzu” Embassy in RF Tomonobu Sekoguchi. The company “Shimadzu” became the first key partner for the Fund from Japan.

Joint cooperation between the Skolkovo Fund and the Company “Shimadzu” will continue forming values of ecosystem at the international level. Special attention will be paid to increase of integration level of Russian innovation companies in a global innovation society. In the cooperation with “Shimadzu” will take active part the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technologies (“Skoltech”), which will offer its investigation and educational opportunities for joint developments.

It is considered an opportunity of establishing the scientific-technical center “Shimadzu” on the territory of innovation center “Skolkovo”. The key directions of joint investigation activity will become:
• New methods for investigating the active substances for pharmaceutical branch;
• Investigations of live systems (distribution of active substances in materials and metabolism);
• Methods for cleaning substances.

Vesily Belov, the Sinior Vive-President on innovation of the Skolkovo Fund: “We are glad to see the start of cooperation with the company “Shimadzu”. Russia more and more actively works in the direction of R&D development for pharmaceutical industry and medical sciences. I am sure that for “Shimadzu”, as for other partners’ foreign companies, cooperation with the Skolkovo Fund is not only an active exchange with ideas and practices. It opens new and wider opportunities for working on Russian market”.

Tomonobu Sekoguchi, the Chief of the Embassy in RF: “More than 4 years I have been working in Russia. I remember that several years ago with great enthusiasm I received news about the Skolkovo establishment here, and now we are executing this agreement. Our company is more than hundreds of years; we successfully develop our main product – electronic measuring tools, which are applied in Japan in many spheres. I am sure that together we can make something new, create innovation products”.

Kirill Kaem, executive director of the biomedicine cluster of the Skolkovo Fund: “I see several opportunities for cooperation development. Firstly are scientific investigations, which are executed by the company – in Skolkovo optimal conditions will be created. Secondly, within the work in Skolkovo the “Shimadzu” can use its equipment, commercialize here its opportunities. Not less perspective is participation of the company in educational programs, which we execute in Skolkovo. We can work together, thus forming the innovation ecosystem.
