The Mashable blog attracted its first $13M of investmentsThe Mashable, popular news blog about Internet and new technologies, raised $13M of investments in a series A. In the round leaded the famous venture Fund “Updata Partners”, and also in Mashable invested the “New Market Venture Partners”, “Social Starts”, founders of the “Buddy Media” Michael and KassLazerow, CEO Iglo Group ElioLeoniSceti, and CEO Havas Global David Jones.

The portal was founded in 2005. Founder Pete Cashmore says the audience of the site achieves more than 30 million visitors per month (Mr.Cashmore talks about the amount of visits to the site), the team consists of more than 120 workers, and this is the first fundraising for the company.

During the short period a new blog gathered its first two dozen thousands of subscribers. At the moment the amount of readers of Mashable achieves dozens of million people. The team from one author turned to be 120 authors, managers and programmers, working the full day. The company before its first investments for own funds opened offices in New-York and San-Francisco. In the near future it is planned to open offices in London and Los-Angeles.
