The results of the VII Kazan Venture Fair

The total amount of requested investment for projects of the VII Kazan Venture Fair estimated $ 328 M this year, the Fair attracted more than 1,500 guests from around the world.

The Republic of Tatarstan, which is the driving force of the venture capital investments market development, not only on its territory, but throughout Russia, held Kazan Venture Fair for the seventh time. Bringing together visitors from all over the world the Fair is growing and becomes one of the most symbolic and recognizable events for venture investments year after year.

In 2012, the fair brought together more than 200 representatives of investment funds and private investors from around the world. The high interest was shown by investors from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, the UK, the USA, Finland and Switzerland.

Potential projects from all over Russia were selected - this year there were 63. The total of requested investments amounted at $ 328 M, with an average volume of investment required for each project was $ 25 M (the range of requests from $ 25000 to $ 300 M).

The structure of the Fair remains unchanged: it begins with a meeting of the AIRR Committees Chairmen. This year it was attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Further seeing the exposure of the Kazan Venture Fair takes place – the official delegation meets with the represented companies, communicates with the leaders. The plenary session was attended by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Board Member - Vice President of State Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs, Deputy Chairman of OJSC RUSNANO Andrei Svinarenko and others. The speakers at the plenary session were Ainur Aideldinov, the director of the state non-financial organization Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, Andrez Paulo, Vice-President of the European Association of Business Angels, Alexandra Johnson, Managing Director of DFJ VTB Aurora, whose report has been informally recognized by the participants as one of the most interesting.

At a plenary meeting the quadripartite agreement was signed on cooperation between state non-financial organization Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, OJSC Russian Venture Company, LLC Ford Sollers Holding and Vnesheconombank. Under this Agreement, the Parties agreed to develop a draft framework for joint activity on development of automotive components manufacturing industry in the Republic of Tatarstan up to 2020.

Round tables covering the most pressing topics collected a large number of participants. They discussed such topics as the innovative projects commercialization strategy; the investment elevator peculiarities; debt financing; the formation of an innovative environment in the regions with the help of seed investments; innovative company as an employer.

Project Math master-class was useful for the participants during which the Director General of JSC Hematologic Corporation Igor Pivovarov told how to calculate the startup budget and how an investor looks at start-up.

Traditionally, Kazan Venture Fair involves a large number of regions. The projects from Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Leninogorsk, Moscow, Zelenodolsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Obninsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, China and Lithuania participated in the Fair. 16 projects took part within the fair. They are funded under the program of the Republic of Tatarstan The idea -1000 (the project objective is increasing the share of high-tech business in the economy of the Republic of Tatarstan).
