Buryatia, an autonomous ethnic region in Russia?s Southeast Siberia located along the eastern shore of Lake Baikal, has announced its future Biotechnopolis, news agency VostokTeleInform reported, citing a statement by Governor Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn of the Republic of Buryatia. According to the governor, the future techno-park will focus on developing medical technologies, information technologies, and projects in energy efficiency and energy saving. ?Land lots have already been allocated for the techno-park; infrastructure issues are being resolved, and we already know who will be the residents of the facility,? Mr. Nagovitsyn said, adding that the region ?has yet to win a federal tender for project funding.? One of the most notable distinctive features of the future techno-park is expected to become a focus on developing pharmaceutical compositions based on indigenous recipes derived from Tibetan medicine.
