Russian Venture Company (RVC) and the Novosibirsk region have agreed to jointly step up the development of information and biotechnologies in this Siberian region, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported. A cooperation agreement was signed last week during the Novosibirsk leg of the Russian StartUp Tour road show. StartUp Tour is a large program designed to seek out promising innovation projects and develop competences of young start-up teams pushing their efforts in the high-tech sector. The Skolkovo Foundation, RVC, Rosmolodezh (a ministry-like government body responsible for developing youth policy) and Rusnano are the organizers of the whole series of events. According to Governor Vasily Yurchenko of Novosibirsk, the new agreement is expected to help the region ?in both base industrial sectors and high-tech ones.? In addition, it will make sure the region partakes of the ?most valuable international experience? and develops ?demand for IT, biotechnologies, life sciences, Internet technologies and others that are so rapidly growing today.?...
