State Duma adopted a draft Federal Law About the Foundation for Advanced Studies

The State Duma adopted the draft federal law About the Foundation for Advanced Studies at the first reading. The Fund is created to provide innovative development and modernization of the military-industrial complex.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, it will be very difficult for Russia to catch up with advanced countries in areas such as hypersound, unmanned technologies and new materials. This had to be done before, and now we must go on ahead, cutting off the corners.

The Foundation will act as a separate structure, whose activities will be aimed at ensuring the maintenance of orders and high-risk breakthrough researches and developments for the benefit of national defense and security, modernization of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the creation of innovative technologies and military products of special and dual purpose.

In particular, the fund will form a scientific conception of potential threats that are critically important for the defense and security of the Russian Federation, will find the causes and ways to eliminate them, and at the same time will determine the main directions of high-risk breakthrough researches and the development of high-tech military production of special and dual purpose.

The Fund will find promising ideas to bring them to the level of projects and conduct theoretical and experimental study of the feasibility of their practical application, and in addition will fund these activities and projects.
