A fund to support young scientists launched in Yakutia

A Research and Education Foundation for Young Scientists REFYS has been established in Yakutia, which will receive 40M RUR annually for its activities, the press service of the President and Government of the Republic says.

The founders of the Fund are the representatives of all scientific and educational institutions of the Republic, including North-Eastern Federal University and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic. Earlier, the initiative to create the fund was approved by the head of the region Yegor Borisov.

The Board of Trustees consists of five people, including the Deputy Prime Minister Theodosia Gabysheva, the Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly of the region Alexander Zhirkov, the Presidium Chairman of Scientific Center of SB RAS Mikhail Lebedev, the President of regional Academy of Sciences Igor Kolodeznikov.

The activities of the fund will be conducted in six areas: research, academic mobility, master classes by leading scientists, support of fieldworks and youth scientific activities, social and legal support to young scientists.

The main form of support from the Fund will be grants of slightly less than 300K RUR. The fund plans accept applications for grants quarterly, internal and external expertise will be conducted on each application to decide whether to support or not.
