Startups in Siberia as good as Siberian oil

StartUpSabantuy, a project of Kazan IT Park to attract investments in promising startups, took place last weekend at the Technopark of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok.

StartUpSabantuy is an expedition to 30 cities of Russia to conduct local expert sessions in each of the cities in the format of elevator pitches. StartUpSabantuy has visited Tomsk, and the next city on its route map is Krasnoyarsk.

Novosibirsk jury of StartUpSabantuy included such known Russian experts as Alexander Lyskovsky (Alawar), Anton Belousov (Softline Venture Partners), Gleb Tertychnyi, Ruslan Permyakov, Alexey Sukhorukov and others.

Novosibirsk IT startups presented 20 projects. The Expert Council conducted detailed study of all projects and helped the teams to refine their ideas.

According to the organizers, Novosibirsk projects demonstrated high level of training. Siberian startups are as good as Siberian oil, since there are many good, clean and high quality ones, - Vasil Zakiev notes, project manager at Kazan IT Park.

The winner of StartUpSabantuy in Novosibirsk or StartUp-Batyr has been announced according to the results of intense work. The winner is WinkCam Company which develops an application shortcut for the smartphone camera by recognizing users' movements. The team of the winning project was invited to train in StartUp-school, and take part in the final of the expedition called InvestorDemoDay in June at the new site of Kazan IT Park in Naberezhnye Chelny.

The experts also made special mention of Remamba application, which is an online diary, and Photo Now application, which is a service that makes the search of photos on social networks faster and easier.
