Tomsk and Novosibirsk microbiologists in Siberia have developed Russia?s first-ever express test system for tick-borne encephalitis and the Lyme disease, the Chemical Diversity Research Institute (CDRI) website reports. The device is meant to help hunters, travelers, forestry workers and others exposed to the danger of contracting tick-borne infectious diseases. The Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by at least three species of bacteria belonging to the genus Borrelia, and is a tick-borne disease. The test system includes a special fork to remove a parasitic arthropod from the human body.
