KamAZ truck maker to build its own RandD Center in Russia?s Skolkovo

KamAZ, a leading Russian truck manufacturer, is expected to build in Skolkovo its own RandD Center to focus on energy-efficient and IT solutions for its core business.

KamAZ, a leading Russian truck manufacturer based in Tatarstan, in the mid-Volga area, is expected to build its own R&D Center in the Skolkovo innovation hub just outside Moscow, the Skolkovo Foundation website reports. A pertinent agreement has been signed between Viktor Vekselberg, the president of the Skolkovo Foundation, and Sergei Kogogin, the CEO of KamAZ. Under the terms of the agreement, KamAZ?s R&D Center will focus on energy-efficient projects to improve long-haul freight transportation and on developing IT solutions for trucks. The Tatarstan company undertakes to build in Skolkovo a 12,000 square meter complex to include offices, laboratories and design bureaus. KamAZ also wants to screen on a regular basis auto-making project ideas offered by Skolkovo residents; the truck manufacturer might decide to buy into some or co-invest in R&D activities of some others...
