France?s Saint-Gobain launches first plasterboard site in Russia

Saint-Gobain, a global leader in the habitat and construction markets, announced last week that it has launched production at its first Russia-based plasterboard factory. The new site, which also contains a gypsum quarry, is located close to the village of Gomzovo some 75km west of Nizhny Novgorod, in the mid-Volga area. The new site is expected to help Saint-Gobain meet growing demand for plasterboard in Russia. With an investment of around 70 million euros it currently has a workforce of 87 employees. ?The start-up of this new plant is an important step in the Group?s development within the Russian habitat and construction markets,? said Pierre-Andr? de Chalendar, the CEO and chairman of Saint-Gobain.
