In October 31, 2013 in the Hotel “Ritz Carlton” (Moscow, Russia) has been conducted the 5th Conference “Mergers and acquisitions in Russia and CIS”, organized by the International Bar Association (IBA).

For the fifth time the leading global experts in the sphere of economics and jurisprudence have discussed the newest trends of the market of merges in Russia and CIS countries, have assumed results of the make during the year work, and exchanged by plans for future. The event has been conducted with support of the Moscow Chamber of Lawyers, the Federal chamber of lawyers of the Russian Federation and Associations of in-house lawyers.

The conference has been started from the beginning speech of the IBA representatives. People have been congratulated by co-Chairman of the Conference Oliver Tribold, Partner “Schellenberg Wittmer” (Zurich), co-Chairman of the Committee on corporate law and mergers&acquisitions of IBA; co-Chairman of the Conference Vasily Rudomino, the senior partner of the law firm ALRUD (Moscow), a member of the Board of subdivision on questions of a lawyer profession IBA, and also the co-Chairman of the European region; forum IBA Dovile Burgene, partner of the firm Lawin (Vilnius).

Dovile Burgene has told the guests about European regional Forum, which since 2004 represents the IBA in Europe, and is directed on promotion of the Association values among practicing lawyers. Oliver Tribold has more detailed told about the actual programs of the Conference, noting, that IBA organizes such conferences all over the world. Vasiliy Rudomino, in his turn, presented the key reported on the subject “Macroeconomics: the main trends in Russia and CIS” – Dmitry Sedov, managing director of the “Goldman Sachs”, participation of which is the honor for the Organization committee of the conference.

Within the limits of the Conference have been conducted five sessions, devoted to the general and private questions of the M&A market development in Russia and CIS:
• Macroeconomics: the main trends in Russia and CIS;
• Analysis of the existing trends, effecting the M&A development in Russia and CIS;
• Foreign investments of companies from Russia and CIS: main peculiarities;
• Mergers and acquisitions in the sphere of private capital – new trends in Russia and CIS;
• Main questions, appearing while conducting the M&A deals in Russia and CIS.

In the conference took part leaders in the sphere of M&A: partners of international legal firms, representatives of the Government authority, director of the legal departments.

In the course of the meeting speakers have gave estimation of the mergers and acquisitions market condition in Russia and CIS countries, have considered the main trends in the sphere of investments and legislative initiatives, stimulating the M&A deals, and also analyzed the main peculiarities of the Russian approach to mergers and acquisitions.
