Next year, a Novosibirsk company in Siberia wants to set up production of a new family of lighter and stronger glass bottles, using a special nanotech coating, Russian news portal Delovoy Kvartal reported. As part of a sweeping revamp effort, Ekran, a local factory, will have a special furnace with a projected capacity of 260 tons of glass mass a day. This round of modernization is expected to cost the Siberian manufacturer about 40 million euros. The glass-making complex will be used to produce lightweight colorless and colored bottles. According to Pavel Boboshek, the recently appointed deputy CEO of Ekran, while making thin-glass bottles is already standard in Russia, using nanotech-enabled coating is still unknown. The Novosibirsk factory will become the first Russian company east of the Urals to start manufacturing this European type of bottles. Ekran is on a list of Russia?s ten largest glass bottle makers with an 11.3% share of the national market for colorless and colored glass bottles...
