Altay Polzunov State Technical University in Barnaul, in South Siberia, is expected to host a new scientific and educational center, regional portal Barnaul.org reported. In addition to the university, other partners setting up the center include the Lisavenko Research Institute of Siberian Gardening, the regional Research Institute of Animal-Breeding and Vet Services, the Institute of Cheese-Making at the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Siberian Academic Institute of Water and Ecology Problems. According to Andrei Maksimenko, the vice rector for science and innovation at the Barnaul-based university, the new center will focus primarily on applied biotechnologies.
