Siberia?s ISU and 18 more Russian universities to set up advanced IT research centers

Following a federal competition, Irkutsk State University (ISU) in Siberia is now on a list of 19 Russian scientific organizations to host what Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev referred to in 2012 as ?advanced IT research centers,? the ISU press center announced. The project that has won ISU its place on the list is aimed at creating a technology hub enabling intelligent content control. The hub will focus on big data research, one of the most advanced in the IT sector. According to Prof. Andrei Mantsivoda, the ISU vice rector for strategic development and one of the project developers, the way the technology hub has been designed makes it possible to bring on board for specific research areas the world?s most renowned IT gurus. The project calls for the buildups of research teams working to achieve specific results, and for collaboration with young scientists across the globe.
