A laboratory for graphene technology study in Yakutia

The press service of innovation NEFU reports on this news
The purpose of the laboratory is to develop scientific and educational environment, highly qualified personnel training, conducting basic research in graphene and new composite materials and development of regional technologies in electronic devices creation.
The laboratory consists of three departments: Research Department, Department of graphene growth and Technological Department. The leading specialists from Moscow, who visited the lab’s opening, said that this event opens a new scientific era in the North-Eastern Federal University.
Graphene is the thinnest crystalline material in the world. It has several unique properties: it is 200 times stronger than steel, its electrical conductivity is 4 times greater the conductivity of metals, it has amazing transparency and thermal conductivity. Therefore graphene is used, for example, in aircraft wings manufacturing. In addition, graphene surface is a good antiseptic and is widely used in medicine – Svetlana Smagulova, the Head of the Laboratory said.
