Samara to have its nano-park; industry and science pool efforts to guide it

Samara in the Volga area is planning its own nano-park, Samara Newspaper reports. The nano-park will be reportedly built next to Samara?s Radio Center, and a special Scientific and Engineering Council (SEC) on Mechanical Engineering Innovation is being set up to guide its operation. According to Sergei Bezrukov, the Samara Regional Minister of Industry and Technology, the SEC is being created to ?beef up and develop the region?s investment potential, boost the competitiveness of its companies, provide the fast track for collaboration between industry and the scientific community, help introduce advanced production technologies, and promote tech innovation projects in the Samara region.? The Council is said to include top managers and representatives of the region?s key mechanical engineering businesses, leading universities and scientific centers, innovation infrastructure players, and NGOs. The SEC is reported to focus on the following areas: technical innovation, new industrial materials and structures, energy saving and energy efficiency, innovation management, laser technologies, and nanotechnologies...
