Shazam attracts $40M from America Movil

Shazam, a developer of an application that helps you to define name and a singer of almost any musical composition, has just attracted $40M within the limits of a round, conducted by America Movil.

The company plans to spend attracted funds on entering Latin America markets.

Formerly the company attracted $32M in a round, conducted by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Institutional Venture Partners involving DN Capital.

Shazam application became very popular on iPhone and now is available on Android, Java, BlackBerry, Windows and Symbian. Number of users of this wonderful application reached 263 million people.

The main function of this software is definition of songs. Only imagine that you drive in a car and radio plays a musical composition that you like, but you do not know its name. You just launch the application, push Tag Now and wait for 12 seconds. The program sends a record of the song to its server and you get full information about the composition.
