Tomsk innovators ready to bridge gap between tech ideas and oil production
Innovation companies in Siberia?s Tomsk region are offering a sizable local oil producer their technology projects to boost production and improve energy efficiency.
Seventeen innovation companies in Siberia?s Tomsk region have recently presented their technology projects to Tomsk Oil, a sizable regional oil producer, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported earlier this week. The agency quoted Alexei Knyazev, the vice governor for innovation policy, as saying that such a pitch-meeting was the region?s first experiment in such a format, but ?the regional government wants to make such meetings regular events.? According to the vice governor, there seems to be no more than 3% of businesses in the region which are receptive to innovation. Tomsk Oil, one of such businesses, is primarily interested in tech solutions that would improve its core production, but is also seeking projects that could help save energy. RIA also quoted Nail Garipov, the CEO of Tomsk Oil, as saying that his company ?will not delay with making decisions regarding the introduction of technologies of interest.? The innovation projects presented at the first pitch-meeting reportedly included physical-chemical solutions aimed at boosting reservoir recovery, means of removing nonorganic scurf from oil and gas producing equipment, and stations that use no reagents to purify drinking water in oil workers? settlements...
