Moscow researchers announce next gen drug to fight infections in kidneys
Scientists at Moscow Lomonosov State University have developed a substance to protect kidneys against infections, using the so-called ?Skulachev ions.?
Scientists at Moscow Lomonosov State University (MSU) have developed a substance to protect the kidneys against infections, using the so-called ?Skulachev ions,? Russian news agency RIA Novosti reports. The antioxidant substance is reported to be able to effectively protect the kidneys against the adverse consequences of infectious pyelonephritis, an acute and most debilitating bacterial infection. The Russian researchers are said to have proved that in a series of experiments; the results have been published in international scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. Mitochondrial antioxidants, aka ?Skulachev ions,? or SkQ, have been developed at MSU?s Belozersky Research Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology...
