Urals? science and business team up; Moscow co-funds projects
Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg has won the right to seek federal subsidies for developing high tech production in collaboration with businesses.
Ural Federal University (UrFU) in Yekaterinburg can now seek federal subsidies for developing high tech production in collaboration with businesses, Rusnanonet.ru reports. The university is reported to have won an open tender held by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. UrFU has brought to victory two of its proposed partnerships with businesses. A reported 262 applications for such partnerships were filed for consideration from across Russia. The Ural university can now expect to get a one-to-three year subsidy. UrFU has partnered for participation in the tender with two Russian companies. These are ?Russian Chromium 1915? and ?Automation NPO.? The companies are now expected to place orders with UrFU for a total of $12.3m worth of R&D work and then invest at least as much over the next three years in the commercial introduction of the technologies to be developed in their partnerships. The Russian government is reportedly committed to reimbursing the businesses half of the total sum. Russian Chromium 1915 will work with UrFU to further its project focused on environmental safety of production processes...
