Kirov Tires, a sizable tire manufacturer in Kirov, in the Volga area, has tapped into Pirelli nanotechnology to launch production of fuel-saving and emission-reducing ?green? tires.

Kirov Tires, a sizable tire manufacturer in Kirov, in the Volga area, has launched production of ?green? tires, portal Topof.ru reports. Tapping into nanotechnology is reportedly expected to help lower fuel consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The investment project is being realized within the framework of a tripartite agreement signed earlier this year by Kirov Tires, the Kirov regional administration, and Italy?s Pirelli, the world?s fifth-largest tire maker. Kirov Tires has been part of a JV between Pirelli and Rostekhnologii, Russia?s largest state-owned technology company, since December 15, 2011.
