By 2018, three new solar power stations are expected to come on-line in southern districts of the Omsk region, in Siberia, reported Tvoiomsk.ru, a regional news website, citing a statement by the Russian office of Switzerland?s Avelar Energy Group. The future stations will reportedly be using thin-film solar modules and each have a capacity of something between 5 to 25MW. Avelar Energy Group is a partner in a broader Russian-wide solar generation project being pushed since 2009 by the Renova group of companies run by Skolkovo Foundation president Viktor Vekselberg, and Rusnano, Russia?s nanotech giant. The investors are said to be ready to put up as much as $615m to back the effort...
