Rusnano to help modernize Chelyabinsk Pipes in Urals

Rusnano, Russia?s nanotech giant, and Chelyabinsk Pipes, a sizable pipe-making company in the South Urals, have unveiled their joint effort aimed at helping modernize the Chelyabinsk factory and build new facilities to make the next generation of Russian stainless pipes, the official Rusnano website announced. The overall tab for the investment program is about $455m, including a $220m contribution from Rusnano. New production lines will use special materials and adopt technologies that lead to the formation of nanodimensional structures in the materials employed in the manufacture of pipe components, the nanotech company said. That is expected to result in a noticeable increase in the durability and reliability of Chelyabinsk Pipes products.
