Tomsk Medical University’s project on therapy against tumors received state s
The project of Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) in Tomsk on the development of technological bases of targeted therapy against malignant tumors became the winner of the federal target program (FTP) Scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of innovative Russia for 2009-2013s; the project will receive 2.21 M RUR from the federal budget, according to the website of the university.
The research project of SSMU scientists aims to identify molecular mechanisms for the intracellular and extracellular signaling systems (heat shock proteins, intracellular gas transmitters, galectins) in the deregulation of apoptosis and proliferation of tumor cells; the project is also aimed at the development on the basis of targeted therapy technological approaches of malignant tumors.
The project tries out a strict competitive selection in the RME of Russia - 5.2 projects for one place, presented by Russian educational and scientific organizations in Life Sciences in the category of critical technologies Biomedical and veterinary technologies. This project will bring together the potential of molecular medicine and clinical laboratory diagnosis and pathophysiology department, as well as SSMU Research and Education Center of Molecular Medicine; two young doctors and three PhDs under 35 years old, nine graduate students and doctoral candidates, and 6 students of Medical-Biological Faculty of the university will get involved. The project is scheduled for two years, funding will be 2.21 M RUR.
