Skolkovo will allocate up to $1 billion RUR this year for biomedicine Centers

Skolkovo Fund will allocate up to one billion RUR to equip future centers for collective use (CCU) for Biomedicine in 2011, a source in the fund told RIA Novosti on Monday .


Previously the director of development and business processes of the Innotsentr cluster Biological and medical technologies Roman Bolgarin told RIA Novosti that the biomedical cluster’s plans include the establishment of a CCU on the basis of Russian universities. According to him, these centers will be established in areas such as pre-clinical studies, trans-and post-genome technologies, regenerative medicine, computer modeling of drugs, a comprehensive personalized treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancer.

The head of the cluster Biological and Medical Technology Igor Goryanin reported in April that the Fund intends to invest in 2011 some 20 projects in the biomedical field, which will be selected in accordance with the program policy, defined by the Health Ministry of Russia.
