The current number of residents at the Skolkovo innovation hub is ?far from enough? for a country like Russia, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported the opinion that Skolkovo Foundation president Viktor Vekselberg aired earlier this year. According to Mr. Vekselberg, today the hub has more than a thousand residents that have been granted the status after rigorous screening. Another 10,000+ applications from start-up companies from around the country are still being considered. ?We keep asking ourselves: is this a lot or insufficient? The answer is: hopelessly insufficient. It?s far from enough because we can see the actual number of initiatives that come. The number of companies that already today meet the requirements we have for start-ups is much, much greater,? the Foundation president said. He also noted that for at least two more years to come Skolkovo, the state-sponsored innovation center still under construction just outside Moscow, will be sticking to the current exterritorial principle of selecting residents, an approach that gives Skolkovo resident entrepreneurs from across Russia the opportunity to keep benefiting from government support that exists in their local registration regions...
