Nanotechnology comes to help RusHydro modernize power production

RusHydro, Russia?s largest hydroelectric generating company, and Rusnano, the national nanotech giant, have agreed to cooperate in energy efficiency, solar, nanocoatings, membrane technologies, and other projects, Rusnano announced last week. The partners have put together a list of 14 pilot projects picked for joint implementation; the projects are all based on high-tech solutions developed by Rusnano?s portfolio companies, the nanotech firm emphasized. ?Special attention will be paid to solutions designed to boost energy efficiency. Particularly, the partners are considering introducing networked energy storage systems of a range of capacities, based on lithium-ion battery technology, toself-contained energy systems in Russia?s Far East and Arctic territories,?
