Skolkovo Fund intends to reduce the cost of innovation city’s planningThe Skolkovo Fund will review the concept of the future innovation city’s territory development in Skolkovo due to financial reasons, it is about avoiding monumentality, the head of the foundation Viktor Vekselberg said on Friday meeting on the construction of cultural centers in Russia’s regions led by Deputy Prime Minister Vladislav Surkov.

According to Vekselberg, due to the known circumstances, the Skolkovo Fund has to rethink and provide something cheaper in terms of the city’s development, but still preserving key facilities needed for the innovation center’s work. It is a rejection of large projects’ construction the feasibility of which is not obvious.

Surkov supported the proposal, noting that we need to decide whether Skolkovo needs monumental structures. According to the vice-premier, architectural buildings in the innovation city are needed to create comfortable and interesting Skolkovo’s environment. We need to understand what Skolkovo’s objects create this environment, - RIA Novosti quoted Surkov.

He asked the participants of the meeting, which was attended by the representatives of the urban block of the Skolkovo Fund, to think about what architectural objects should be created in order to create necessary environment. – the Deputy Prime Minister said.

According to Vekselberg, the fund will need another three or four weeks to develop specific proposals to change the planning concept. A planning council will take place on November, 15 and we will tell you about all the details on November, 20 – the City Manager of the Skolkovo Fund Victor Maslakov said.
